2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB E220d Variant To Be Introduced In India Soon

Mercedes-Benz India recently launched the new E-Class in the Long Wheel Base (LWB) version. The German luxury automobile manufacturer unveiled the model with two trim levels: E200 and E350d. Now, the company plans to add yet another trim to this line-up.

Reports suggest that Mercedes-Benz will introduce the E220d trim in the new E-Class LWB line-up. This trim will replace the E250d trim, which was the entry level trim in the previous generation model. Coming back to the E220d, the model will be powered by an all new 2.0-litre diesel engine. This 1995cc four cylinder motor will be capable of producing 191 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.

While an official announcement regarding the E-Class LWB E220d is yet to be made, it is said that Mercedes-Benz India is currently in the process of downgrading this new engine which currently has a Euro-VI rating. This engine will now be downgraded to the BS-IV norms so that is can run on the BS-IV fuel that will be available in India from April 1, 2017.

Although Mercedes-Benz India has not revealed an official launch date, reports suggest that the E-Class LWB E220d will be introduced in June 2017. Once launched in India, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB E220d, just like its predecessor, could go on to become the best-selling trim among the lot.
