While Indian markets are still waiting for the 2016 Toyota Fortuner, the Japanese automaker has already rolled out the TRD Sportivo version of the Fortuner in Thailand. The new version of the Fortuner SUV is launched for 17,19,500 Baht (approx INR 32.7 Lakhs).
On the visual front, the TRD Sportivo edition retains the muscular silhouette as the regular version, but there is extra bodywork that puts it on the heavier side. The front and rear bumpers are upgraded to provide a beefy stance to the SUV. The kit also adds a new black top that sets it apart from the regular 2016 Fortuner. The alloys are upgraded to 20 inch ones from the 18 inch ones on the regular. Also the TRD Sportivo branding is profusely used at every nook and cranny to emphasize on the sporty character of the edition.
The 2016 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo  is powered by a is a 2.8L 1GD-FTV, straight-4 common rail diesel engine that is equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger and intercooler. The power plant produces a peak power of 174 nhp at 3,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 450 Nm between 1,600 – 2,400rpm. The torque is pushed to the rear wheels by a 6-speed Automatic Transmission with sequential Shift and Paddle Shift.
The Fortuner TRD Sportivo edition also brings in a lightly revised, more sportier suspension setup – the front features a double wishbone setup with stabilizer and TRD Sportivo shocks, while the rear is equipped with 4 link & coil setup with stabilizer bar and the TRD Sportivo Shock Absorber kit. The braking duties are performed by a disc brakes all around.

In India, Toyota Bharat sells the 6 variants of the previous generation Toyota Fortuner including the TRD Sportivo edition. For now there are no official words on the launch of the 2016 Fortuner in India, but there are reports suggesting that it will be in the country not before 2017.

The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo gets a black roof
The kit adds a new, sportier front bumper with redesigned air dam and fog lamp housings.
It also adds a new rear bumper.
Inside, the TRD Sportivo edition gets black and red synthetic leather with silver inserts.
A JBL infotainment system is also in the offing for the TRD Sportivo editions
The TRD Sportivo package also adds six-spoke 20-inch TRD wheels with 265/50 Dunlop tyres.
