2016 Auto Expo: Top bikes [ Motorcycles and scooters ] expected at the motor show

The 2016 Auto Expo is just around the corner and the motoring event is expected to see as many as 80 products being unveiled for the Indian market. At Motoroids, we are all geared up and ready to bring all the action from the auto show as in the quickest and most comprehensive manner possible. Before we do that, though, let’s take you through a list of scooters and motorcycles expected to be showcased or launched at the 2016 Auto Expo. So here it is, a detailed list of products that you should expect to be unveiled, showcased or launched at the gala. #AETMS2016

DSK Benelli Tornado 302

The 2015 EICMA saw the unveiling of the Benelli Tornado 302, its second faired bike after the Tornado 1130 which was launched over a decade ago. The Tornado 302 would be based on the TNT 300 and would soon join DSK-Benelli India’s portfolio.

Engine: 300 cc in-line 2-cylinder, 4-stroke engine
Power: 35 PS at 12,000 rpm
Torque: 26 Nm at 9000 rpm
Expected Price: INR 3-3.25 lakh

DSK Benelli TRK502

The middle weight adventure tourer from the Italian two-wheeler maker was quite a head-turner at the 2015 EICMA and the motorcycle will soon be available on Indian shores. We are sure we would see quite a few of these exploring the challenging terrain of Ladakh, or exploring the tarmac across the country pretty soon.

Engine: 499.6cc twin-cylinder liquid-cooled engine with electronic injection
Power: 48 PS at 8,500rpm
Torque: 45 Nm at 4,500rpm
Expected Price: INR 4-4.50 lakh

Ducati Scrambler Sixty2

Ducati has extended its Scrambler family with two new variants jeweling up the product portfolio for 2016 – the Scrambler Sixty2 and the Scrambler Flat Track Pro. The Italian marque targets a wider audience base with the new Scrambler Sixty2 by opening the way for a new two-wheel segment that meets the requirements of those seeking an accessible bike. The Scrambler Sixty2 is expected to jewel Ducati’s stand at the 2016 Auto Expo and soon reach the dealerships, becoming the most affordable Ducati available.

Ducati XDiavel

Ducati stunned the visitors of EICMA with the unveiling of the new XDiavel line up, a power cruiser that uses belt-type final transmission. As said the XDiavel is a fusion of two worlds: the Cruiser world – low speeds, relaxed riding, long journeys and feet forward ergonomics and the Ducati world, characterized by Italian style, refined engineering and unparalleled performance.

Power: 158 PS
Torque: 128 Nm at 5,000 rpm
Expected Price: Approximately INR 25 lakh

Hero HX250R

First showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi, the new Hero HX250R is now set to be introduced in the Indian market. Hero HX250R’s launch was delayed due to EBR’s bankruptcy but it’s better late than never.

Engine: 249cc fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, four-valve engine
Power: 32 PS
Torque: 26 Nm
Expected Price: INR 1.5-.8 lakh

Hero Zir

One of the many surprises at Hero Motocorp’s stand at the 2014 Auto Expo was the ZIR 150cc scooter. The ZIR range is expected to arrive in India in two variants – the flat floor board model and a European style step thru model. We would pick up the European style model. What about you?

Honda CBR300R

Honda is also expected to finally reveal the CBR300R for the Indian market at the upcoming motoring event in Delhi. Once launched, the motorcycle will have an uphill task to compete against the KTM RC390.

Suzuki Gixxer 250

Spy images of a production ready Suzuki Gixxed 250 surfaced in December 2015 and we expect this new quarter-litre to be present at the 2016 Auto Expo. The motorcycle will reportedly carry the same engine that propelled the Inazuma but with a different state of tune.

TVS-BMW G 310 R

BMW revealed its entry-level motorcycle, the new G 310 R, last month. This is the first sub-500cc roadster from the German two-wheeler maker and will be manufactured by the company’s new partner, TVS.

Power: 34 PS at 9,500 rpm

UM Trio

United Motorcycles is one brand that has been eagerly awaited by many since its debut in India at the 2014 Auto Expo. Our office land line has been bombarded with dozens of phone calls every week about UM products. The Miami based two-wheeler maker has confirmed that it will be showcasing Renegade Sport S, Commando and Classic at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The three motorcycles will share the same engine.

Engine: 279 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine
Power: 26 PS at 8,500 rpm
Torque: 21.8 Nm at 7,000 rpm
Expected Price: INR 90,000-1.25 lakh

Yamaha M-Slaz

Yamaha M-Slaz 150 or the MT15, the naked roadster version of the YZF-R15, was launched in Thailand in December 2015 and the motorcycle is expected to be present at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. The street fighter borrows certain elements from its faired sibling such as the famed deltabox frame and the 149cc single cylinder engine.

Yamaha MT-03

Yamaha may also introduce the naked roadster version of the YZF-R3, the MT-03 at the upcoming motoring event in Delhi. The motorcycle made its debut at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show and carries the same tech specs as its faired sibling.
