Skoda seems to be on a roll these days. Recently, we talked about Skoda’s entry into list of top 5 manufacturers in India in terms of sale. We also talked about the recently launched Skoda Rapid becoming the best selling midsizer in a matter of few days. Now, just when we had thought that there is nothing new to report about the VW group owned Czech manufacturer, we came across another good news from Skoda. The manufacturer recently rolled off 1.5 millionth Skoda Octavia version 2 (Laura) from its plant in Mladá Boleslav on Wednesday. For the past 15 years, the Octavia has been a popular offering from the manufacturer in many international markets. In India, the car played the role of shaping up the brand’s image. It may be noted that Skoda arrived in India with its sole offering being the Octavia.
In India, Octavia is a thing of history for the general public. The version 2.0 is the Laura for us and the upper midsize sedan sold here is the recently introduced Rapid. But going by the popularity of Laura, it can be said that the brand name Octavia is not dead yet but is working behind the scenes.
