Recently, British carmaker, MG Motor announced that it would be unveiling its first all-electric vehicle in India on the 5th of December. This new vehicle will be called the ZS EV and it will be powered by an all-electric, eco-friendly powertrain, that would provide an impressive range of over 350-400 kms on a single charge. Once launched, the ZS EV will take on the Hyundai Kona in the mid-range electric crossover segment. Expect the prices of the MG ZS EV to start from anywhere between INR 20-25 Lakhs.
In terms of specifications, MG Motor hasn’t revealed the exact specifications yet, but we believe that the new ZS EV will be getting a similar chassis set-up as its petrol counterpart, which is available in other countries. However, the SUV will now be getting a new all-electric powertrain, that could include a single electric motor that produces over 148 HP and 350 Nm of peak torque for the front axle. All this power should be enough to propel the vehicle from 0 – 50 kmph in just 3.1 seconds. Also, the manufacturer states that the ZS EV can travel almost 430 kilometres on a single charge and its battery can be charged up to 80% in just 30 minutes using a fast charger.
This upcoming 5-seater is also expected to be one of the most practical and consumer-friendly SUVs in its segment, thanks to MG Motor’s strategy of providing environment-friendly mobility solutions for India in the long-term and make EVs accessible for all customers across the country. Recently, MG Motor has taken a lot of efforts to set-up fast-charging/charging stations across the country by partnering with various companies. This paired with a country-wide network of 120 sales and service outlets across India, means that MG will aim to provide a seamless ownership experience for all its customers. The MG ZS EV will first be launched in India, followed by UK, Germany, Australia, Thailand and the Middle East. Stay tuned for more updates about MG’s upcoming electric crossover!
