The All-New Maruti Suzuki Next-Gen Ertiga has been launched in India at an attractive price point. In its new avatar, it looks more premium, packs more features & space, and still remains a great value for money car. Its old 1.4-litre petrol engine has been replaced by Maruti's all-new K15 Petrol Engine which benefits from the car maker's Progressive Smart Hybrid Technology. The petrol engine also offers the choice of an automatic gearbox. On the other hand, the efficient 1.3-litre diesel motor continues as it is, but only comes paired with a manual gearbox.
The All-New Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga takes its excellent value-for-money game a notch higher. With this face lift, it appears as a more premium and upmarket car, where the new face makes it look more substantial and wider. The new-generation car is 4,395 mm long, 1,735 mm wide and stands at 1,690 mm in height. With a wheelbase of 2,740 mm, space and comfort in the second and third row is great. The next-gen Ertiga gets projector headlamps which are nestled inside a horizontally designed nacelle, and paired with a wide, chrome finished grille. It makes the face appear more mature, and the car, bigger. The glass area remains opulent and beneath that, new body lines cut a streamlined picture. At the rear, the D-pillar has been blacked out at the top to make the roof appear like it's floating. Newly designed 3D Tail Lamps with LED inserts spill over on to a large boot gate which swivels up vertically.
The cabin of the Next-Gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been refreshed. It still is a sea of beige, which highlights the availability of space and makes the cabin appear bright and roomy. New additions include, a flat-bottom steering wheel which gets buttons for the infotainment system and faux-wood inserts at the bottom half. The instrument console gets analogue dials for the speedometer and engine speed, while a crisp looking multi-information display occupies space between them and supplies the driver with a lot of information. The front AC vents are now set in a new housing which covers the the dashboard horizontally, and generous usage of faux wood underneath, adds up to the luxe quotient. Roof mounted AC vents for the second and third row with a dial to control the blower, remains. Seating is comfortable all around, even in the third- row, however, for adults, it is best suited for short to medium journeys. Clever packaging has reduced the size of the Engine Area and added more space in the interior, while large windows allow of lot of light inside.
The Next-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is offered with Dual Airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist across all variants. A mandate for all new cars in India, the high Speed alert system is also added, whereas the Front Seat Belts are adjustable for Height. Essentials like Child Lock for 2nd Row Seats, Seat Belts for All, a Seat Belt Reminder Lamp, and Speed Sensitive Auto Door Lock are also a part of the Ertiga's feature list. Based on a new HEARTECT Platform, it employs high-tensile steel for effective absorption and dispersion of crash energy. The Ertiga also features Hill hold Assist and an electronic stability program for its petrol powered automatic variant.
The Next Gen Ertiga comes with all new K15 Smart Hybrid Engine with a cubic capacity of 1462 which produces 103.3 bhp @ 6000 Rpm. It produces a Torque of 138Nm @ 4400 Rotations per minute of the crankshaft. The engine has fulfilled the Norms of BS IV and can hold up to 45 Liters of Fuel. The ride is comfortable on roads , even with the diesel engine we have noticed nullified lags on pickup and almost zero cabin noise. It is driven from the front end 2 wheel drive and is equipped with 5-Speed Manual Transmission.
