Upcoming Car Launches – Dec 2022

The auto industry in India has witnessed a slew of launches & unveils and with that, we’ve come to the last month of the year. And yet, a few automakers have their upcoming product slated to be launched this month. The list comprises mostly SUVs ranging from the mass market segment to the luxury segment.

Let us take a brief look at each of the products headed our way in December 2022.

Mercedes-Benz EQB

Luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz is leading the EV race in the luxury segment with its third EV slated to be launched on the 2nd of December. Having launched the EQC and the EQS, the brand will now introduce the electrified version of its GLB 7-seater SUV – the EQB in 300 4Matic variant. The EQB will sport slim LED light bars stretching across the front as well as the rear along with a closed-off piano black grille.

Mercedes-Benz GLB

Mercedes’ baby GLS – the 7-seater GLB will be its second 3-row model in India after the GLS. The brand will launch this SUV on the same date as the EQB i.e., 2nd December. Set to be offered in three variants across two powertrains and five exterior colour options, the GLB will be brought in as a CBU (completely built unit) from Mexico. A few notable features of this SUV will be a dual 10.25 infotainment layout, panoramic sunroof, sliding second-row seats, and voice commands.

BMW X7

The BMW X7 that was unveiled back in April this year will reach Indian shores on the 10th of December. The X7 showcases the brand’s new design with a split-headlamp unit that has DRLs on top. The interior also comes with BMW’s curved 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. X7 will be offered in xDrive 40i and xDrive 30d guise.

BMW XM

Another model from BMW to get launched on the 10th of December is the XM. The first M model to come with a plug-in hybrid, the XM spews a total combined power output of 653hp with 800Nm of torque that comes from its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 contributing 483hp while the electric motor placed inside the 8-speed automatic transmission further contributes 194hp

Updated BMW M340i

BMW will also bring in the Updated BMW M340i during its 10 December launch event. The updated M340i will get a tweaked exterior design i.e., a slightly redesigned front end, slimmer LED headlights, new air vents on either end of the front bumper, a fresh design for the alloy wheels, and a tweaked kidney grille. This update will also introduce some new features on the inside such as the curved dashboard display housing the 14.9-inch touch display for the infotainment system.

This M340i is also expected to be powered by the same 3.0-liter, in-line, six-cylinder, turbo petrol engine that is good for 387hp and 500Nm of torque while being mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG

Toyota has already started accepting bookings for the new Urban Cruiser Hyryder CNG at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Hyryder CNG will be the first CNG-powered model in the midsize SUV segment. The CNG kit will be offered with the Maruti-sourced 1.5-liter petrol mild-hybrid engine and its prices are expected to be announced soon

Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara CNG

Maruti Suzuki India recently launched Alto K10 CNG to the market and now is all set to introduce its first CNG SUV – the Grand Vitara. The Grand Vitara CNG version will also be launched in December 2022. The CNG kit will be offered with Maruti’s 1.5-litre K15C, 4-cylinder engine that produces 88bhp and 121.5Nm of torque in CNG mode. MG Hector facelift

The MG Hector is due for its facelift which will mainly focus on cosmetic updates and revisions to the 5-seat SUV’s interior, front grille along with its bumpers. The main highlights of this update will be a new 14-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment and the inclusion of ADAS tech in the car as seen in the spied images. The facelift is expected to be sold alongside the current model and will arrive soon.
