Toyota Etios robbed and crashed

Allegedly drunk men stole four vehicles in a six hour rampage

Even as the crime rate across the country plunges down due to the demonetization move, this six hour long rampage is sure to have left the victims shaken in disbelief. The incident, reported to have taken place in the Makanpur Khadar village near Greater Noida, involved two armed men stealing a series of cars and a bike before police arrested them.

Allegedly under the influence of alcohol, the accused, identified as Rishu and Gaurav, parked their Innova on the Surajpur-Kasna Road before they signaled a passing taxi to stop. As the taxi (an Etios) halted, the accused reportedly held its driver at gunpoint before overpowering the latter and stealing the taxi.

The accused then drove towards a local society where they crashed the cab. What followed was yet another threat, this time to local resident identified as Vaibhav Gupta. Gupta was threatened with a butcher’s knife before the accused sped away with his Swift Dzire. The duo later took the sedan to the Yamuna Expressway where they crashed the car before hijacking another one, a WagonR.

After travelling a few miles on the expressway, the accused parked the vehicle on the road after which they tried to stop a few other cars, and later pelted stones when terrified citizens refused to stop. The suspects finally snatched a bike and started riding towards the Tappal-Haryana border before personnel from five police stations arrested them. The police said no firearms were found on them during the arrest as they wait for the medico-legal results of the accused.
