These dramatic photographs show a couple of brave New Zealand cops who managed to save a 63-year-old woman trapped inside her BMW E46 M3, which had rolled into the water at Fisherman’s Wharf, Auckland. The rescue mission was successfully completed in the nick of time, as just thirty seconds later, the car was totally submerged.
After attempts to break open the doors didn’t suffice, the police officers managed to smash through the rear window using a large chunk of rock and rescue the traumatized old lady, who can be seen clambering to get some air in the rear seat. Reports say that the car was already three-quarters submerged and two members of the public were trying desperately to keep it afloat, when the cops arrived at the scene. At that point the police estimated they had about one minute to get her out before the car went under.
The brush with death left the lady in shock, but she just got away with minor cuts and bruises.
