This week, the motorcycle we wish to see in India is Suzuki SV650. The SV650 is a sporty motorcycle with a naked design. This motorcycle is highly appreciated by riding enthusiasts due to its sporty profile and performance.
Earlier this year, Suzuki launched the updated version of the SV650 in the global markets with changes in its design. Let’s have a look at the new Suzuki SV650!
The Legacy of Suzuki with an Aggressive Stance

The design of the Suzuki SV650 is a combination of a sporty design profile with an aggressive stance. With this design, the motorcycle has retained its legacy of having a sporty character with a few classic elements. Also, the styling of the motorcycle looks quite similar to the old Suzuki SV650 Gladius.
Upfront, the motorcycle gets a round headlight, slim fuel tank, visor, and a roll cage for engine protection. Meanwhile, the stance of the motorcycle is slightly upright and is well-mated to its design. While the motorcycle rides on stylish aluminium alloys, the wheels are supported by radial sport-spec tyres.
The motorcycle also gets a radiator with a black cowl and an upright exhaust system which adds to its sporty flair. However, it also gets a single narrow type seat for better ergonomics.
At the rear, the motorcycle gets a twin LED taillight which is compact and matches its design. With all these elements, the naked bike has a combination of aggressive and sporty design which grabs the attention of enthusiasts.
Platform and Suspension for Riding Skills
The Suzuki SV650 has utilized the Steel Frame based platform replacing its old Aluminium frame. While a few of its parts are shared with the other Suzuki models. However, this motorcycle has still retained the legacy of sporty styling like other models.
At the front, the SV650 gets a coil spring-based telescopic suspension setup. While the rear of the motorcycle is supported by a coil spring-based link-type suspension setup with a spring preload feature. However, the rake of the motorcycle is tilted to 25 degrees for better handling and control.
Meanwhile, this motorcycle rides on the 120/70ZR17 tubeless sport tyres at the front. While at the rear, it gets 160/60ZR17 tubeless sport tyres. In terms of braking, Suzuki has provided 290mm dual disc brakes at the front and 240mm single disc at the rear. With 785mm of seat height and 135mm of ground clearance, this motorcycle has good handling and riding potential.
Loaded with Features for Convenience of the Rider
Suzuki has loaded the new SV650 with plenty of features. The features list includes a multi-reflector headlight, LED taillight and turning indicators and a few matte black panels to reduce the visual bulk.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle gets ECM-based ignition with a button for starting and stopping the engine, and the LCD-based digital instrument cluster. The digital instrument cluster shows various information like gear, fuel consumption, time, riding range, trip computer, etc. However, this bike doesn’t get the modern clutch assist feature with a slipper clutch system.
Packed with thrilling Performance

Suzuki SV 650 uses the two-cylinder V-shaped Aluminium 650cc engine. The highlight of the powertrain is the twin spark technology. However, Suzuki has also provided a new fuel injection system and a low RPM assist. These features enhance the power delivery in the motorcycle which improves the riding experience.
Meanwhile, this engine produces 72hp of power and 64Nm of torque output. The sports motorcycle is available with a six-speed manual transmission.
Will it come to India?
Suzuki SV650 is one of the delightful motorcycles with a thrilling performance. Unlike its previous model, the new SV650 uses a Steel Frame and a revised yet powerful 650cc engine. This motorcycle has telescopic forks and link-type suspension at the front and rear respectively. Also, it rides on the radial spec tyres and has disc brakes at both ends which improves the control and handling.
However, it seems that Suzuki is unlikely to launch the SV650 in the Indian market. One of the main reasons is its lineup which includes the Hayabusa, Katana and V-Storm 650XT. If it gets launched in India, then the motorcycle will sit in the lineup alongside the V-Storm 650XT.
In International markets, the Suzuki SV650 is priced from Rs. 5.8 Lakhs to 6.24 Lakhs Ex-showroom. We expect a similar pricing range if it gets launched in the Indian market.
