KTM RC390 India launch soon; spy image surfaces

That the fully faired and track-oriented sibling of the 390 Duke, the KTM RC390, is headed to India is a well known fact. The KTM RC390 India launch is likely to take place towards the end of this year and we, along with almost every bike aficionado we know of, just can’t wait to have a rendezvous with this promising machine. Sometime earlier, it emerged that the RC390 would be conspicious by its absence at the fast approaching Auto Expo 2014 (CLICK HERE FOR OUR LIVE AUTO EXPO 2014 COVERAGE PAGE) and now, a fresh KTM RC390 spy image has surfaced on Facebook! The RC390 test mule you see in the lead image has been spotted testing in Pune, which is BAL’s hometown.

As must be obvious to you, the KTM RC390 is loosely based on the 390 Duke. However, the bike is expected to carry enough deviations to justify the RC (Race Competition) moniker. It is expected that the upcoming KTM RC390 will have a max power output of 43 Bhp and will enjoy best in class power to weight ratio. The bike, as with every track oriented machine, will offer sporty riding ergonomics and will have a fairing-mounted windshield to deflect wind, clip-on handlebars, split seats and a set of twin headlamps. Also, all that fairing would mean that the bike would be quite aerodynamic.

Compared to the 390 Duke, the RC variant could sport a stiffer suspensio setup to aid handling. KTM RC390 India launch is expected to happen around the same time as KTM RC 200 India launch and both the bikes will spearhead the entry of famous Austrian bike maker in a new segment of Indian two wheelers market.
