We reported in detail when the upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 Sedan was spotted testing for the first time. Now, we have another spy shot of the upcoming Grand i10 based small sedan. The latest spy pic is courtesy of Autocar India reader, Mr. Abishek Balachandran.
As we have been saying, the Hyundai Grand i10 sedan will be a Honda Amaze and Maruti Swift Dzire adversary and much like its rivals, would benefit from platform and components sharing with its hatchback variant. Powering the upcoming sedan will be the same 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol engine and the three-cylinder, 1.1-liter U2 CRDI oil burner that powers the hatchback. It is being said that Hyundai could also go ahead and plonk the i20’s 1.4-liter CRDI engine, along with a four speed auto transmission, into the upcoming compact sedan.
On the inside, the car will look much like the hatchback sibling. However, safely expect it to get revised rear set backrest angle and considerably more features. The Hyundai Grand i10 comes equipped with a high end music system that has an in-built hard-drive, multifunction steering wheel, dual airbags, ABS, rear AC vents, cooled glovebox, et al.
As is pretty obvious, the upcoming Hyundai Grand i10 sedan will be positioned between the hatchback variant and the Verna. This means that the prices of the upcoming sedan will be close to that of rivals such as the Amaze and Swift Dzire. There are good chances that HMIL would resurrect the Accent brand name with the advent of the new Grand i10 hatchback and it would be interesting to see if the upcoming i10 based compact sedan would become as popular as the Accent we all know of.
