We have been reporting in detail about the new 2014 Honda Jazz. The latest to have emerged about the new Jazz is that it would greet us all at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.
The new Jazz is already on sale in Japan has been winning plenty of rave reviews from auto experts and car buyers alike. It is expected that the new Jazz will be officially launched in India around July next year and could be positioned between the Brio and the Amaze in the car maker’s product portfolio.
Engine options
In India, the new 2014 Honda Jazz will go on sale with two engine options, viz.:
- 1.2 litre iVTEC petrol motor attached to a 5 speed gearbox and with peak power of 90PS
- 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel motor attached to a 5 speed gearbox and with peak power of 100PS
The petrol engine is also likely to get a CVT transmission at a later stage
Ride and Handling
The fact that Honda benchmarked the Fit on the VW Polo for the ride and handling characteristics alone speaks a lot about the new Jazz’s dynamic prowess.
Talking about the new Fit’s ride and handling, Honda’s Senior Ride and Handling Engineer, Terumasa Kotada has previously said, “In upping our game, we wanted to make a stronger international competitor, so we benchmarked our Fit on the Polo. The moment you get in the Polo, you notice how low you sit in the car. This instills confidence. And then when you drive the Polo, you notice how low its roll center is and its huge stability levels, instilling even more confidence. To get our desired result, I tested the car extensively on the autobahns in Germany.”
Price
It is pretty much for sure that the upcoming 2014 Honda Jazz will have a more competitive price in India than the last gen model. All this means that the the Jazz could have a staring price of INR 5.25 lakhs for the petrol engine variant.
