Next generation Nissan Qashqai engine details revealed

It has emerged that the upcoming next generation Nissan Qashqai would be powered by newly developed small capacity turbocharged petrol motor. The second generation Nissan Qashqai is expected to go on sale early next year.

The new 1.2 litre four cylinder motor would have a max power output of 113bhp and would be sold under the DiG-T moniker. The new petrol engine would be accompanied by a couple of diesel engines, namely- 108bhp 1.5 dCi and 128bhp 1.6 dCi. It is being said that the car will go on sale in as many as five trim levels- Visia, Visia + Safety Pack, Acenta, Acenta Premium and Tekna. Four wheel drive, however, would be available only with the 1.6 dCi engine option and Premium and Tekna trim levels.

From what can be made out from the spy pics, the next gen Qashqai would look more upmarket and would have a slightly more aggressive stance. Nissan has said that the next gen Qashqai would offer better driving pleasure than the current gen model.

Prices of the upcoming, second generation Qashqai are expected to start at little less than £30,000.
