Renault Duster Hybrid Bookings Open At Rs 21,000; Mileage Revealed

Ahead of its official launch on 17 October, Renault has revealed the mileage of the new Duster Hybrid in India. The strong-hybrid variant delivers an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 29 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its segment. Official bookings for the midsize SUV are now open.

Prospective buyers can reserve the Duster Hybrid by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000. Bookings can be made online via Renault India’s official website or physically through authorized dealerships nationwide.

Hybrid Powertrain Details

The upcoming model features Renault’s E-Tech 160 strong-hybrid system. This setup links a petrol engine with two electric motors and a compact battery pack.

The primary specifications include:

  • 1.8-litre petrol engine working with two electric motors
  • 1.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack
  • 160 PS of combined power output
  • 172 Nm of peak torque
  • Multi-mode automatic transmission
  • 29 kmpl ARAI-certified mileage

The strong-hybrid system functions automatically without requiring an external charging cable. Instead, the battery automatically self-charges while driving by recovering energy during braking and deceleration.

Renault notes that the vehicle can run purely on electric power under appropriate conditions. In urban driving, the SUV can operate in electric mode for up to 80 per cent of the time. The manufacturer also claims the system can lower overall fuel consumption by up to 40 per cent compared to a traditional petrol-only vehicle.

How the Hybrid System Works

The multi-mode automatic transmission actively balances the petrol engine and electric motors based on real-world driving conditions. This allows the Duster to switch smoothly between electric and petrol power without requiring the driver to change any settings manually.

The system is also built to capture kinetic energy whenever the vehicle slows down or brakes. This recovered energy is directed straight into the 1.4 kWh battery to feed the electric motors. Renault states this combination offers a strong mix of everyday performance and high fuel economy.

Other Engine Options

The strong-hybrid system will serve as the third powertrain option for the latest-generation Duster line-up in India. The SUV is already sold with standard turbo-petrol engines.

The non-hybrid variants include:

  • 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
  • 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine
  • Six-speed manual gearbox
  • Six-speed DCT automatic gearbox

The Duster Hybrid will sit above these versions in the range and is expected to carry a higher price when Renault announces the full details.

Launch and Bookings Timeline

Renault will officially launch and fully detail the Duster Hybrid in India on 17 October 2026. While public bookings have just started at Rs 21,000, Renault has already confirmed that the Duster Hybrid batch allocated for the current calendar year is entirely sold out.

The E-Tech 160 marks Renault’s first E-Tech product launch in India under its official ‘futuREady’ strategy. The brand views this hybrid technology as a core step in its long-term electrification plans for the Indian car market.
