There was a time when the Mini was known simply for its small size and unmistakable shape. Over the years, it has grown into a premium hatchback while keeping many of the design details that made the original car famous. Now, Mini India is bringing a special version of the latest Cooper 3-door to the market, putting its British roots front and centre.
Mini India has officially opened pre-launch bookings for the Cooper Oxford Edition. The hatchback will be sold in strictly limited numbers and is based on the performance-focused Cooper S trim. The special edition takes its name from Oxford in the UK, where the classic Mini was first manufactured back in 1959. The BMW Group has also been building modern Mini models at this same factory site since 2001.
British Touches on the Outside
The Oxford Edition receives several Union Jack-inspired styling details. This British theme is visible on the roof, bonnet, and tailgate, while the boot lid features a unique crossed Union Jack and chequered-flag decal.
The limited-run model will be available in two distinct body colours:
- Indigo Sunset Blue
- Chilli Red
Other special exterior details include:
- Glazed White ORVM caps creating a sharp contrast
- 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels for a sportier stance
- Blue and red wheel centre caps alongside Union Jack valve caps
- Oxford-themed exterior stickers placed on the bodywork
- LED headlamps paired with Union Jack LED tail-lamps
The iconic circular headlights, octagonal front grille, and prominent Cooper S badging are carried over directly from the standard hatchback.
Cabin Gets Special Details
The Union Jack treatment continues cleanly inside the cabin space. The main dashboard can be specified in either Beige or Grey, while the car comes fitted with black JCW Sport seats as standard.
The special-edition interior touches include custom Oxford door sill plates, Union Jack graphics on the floor mats and steering wheel, along with a matching key fob cap. The central infotainment display also gets a dedicated Union Jack digital theme.
The dashboard houses a crisp 9.4-inch round infotainment screen supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, factory navigation, and connected-car functions. Other premium features include:
- Panoramic glass roof letting more light into the cabin
- Harman Kardon premium sound system
- Wireless phone charger in the center console
- Heated steering wheel and powered front seats
- Driver seat memory and built-in massage function
- Automatic climate control and over-the-air (OTA) software updates
Same Cooper S Drivetrain
There are no mechanical or performance changes for the Oxford Edition. It uses the familiar 2.0-litre four-cylinder direct-injection turbo-petrol engine.
The motor develops 204 hp of power and 300 Nm of torque, sending drive straight to the front wheels through a swift 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. Mini claims the car completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.6 seconds and delivers a certified fuel efficiency of 16.82 kpl.
Safety Features on Offer
The Cooper Oxford Edition comes equipped with Level 1 ADAS along with several standard safety systems. The complete safety kit features:
- Front Collision Warning and Lane Departure Warning
- Attentiveness Assistant to monitor driver fatigue
- Speed Warning alerts and a smart Reversing Assistant
- Brake Assist, ABS, and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)
- Tyre-pressure monitoring system (TPMS)
- Front and rear parking sensors with a dedicated rear-view camera
- Auto-dimming inside rear-view mirror
- Three-point seat belts for all occupants
Mini has not announced the official price tag yet. This limited-run model is expected to carry a premium over the standard Cooper S variant. Pre-launch bookings are currently open through authorized Mini dealerships across India.
