Mahindra has changed the way buyers can look at its electric SUVs. A lower starting price can make a difference when someone is checking an EV against a petrol or diesel SUV. The company has now widened its Battery-as-a-Service option to the BE 6 SPORTEQ, XEV 9S and XEV 9e.
Mahindra BaaS prices
The new structure separates the cost of the vehicle from the battery. Buyers purchase the SUV and arrange separate finance for the battery through a finance partner.

These prices are for the BaaS plan and apply across all variants of the three SUVs. The battery EMI starts at Rs 6,975 under the example used by Mahindra. The Rs 3.75 per km figure is calculated using 60 km of daily driving and a specific down payment.
How the plan works
The battery is financed separately instead of being included fully in the vehicle purchase cost. This brings down the amount needed for the SUV at the time of purchase.
A few points buyers should know:
- The battery plan is a dual-loan finance product.
- It is provided through the respective finance partner.
- Approval depends on the financier.
- Battery EMI changes with battery size, down payment and loan tenure.
- The programme is for personal use.
The advertised prices do not cover several other ownership expenses. These include charging, maintenance, repairs, charger cost, road tax, insurance, TCS and other applicable statutory charges.
What Mahindra has changed
Mahindra first introduced BaaS with the BE 6 SPORTEQ. After receiving a strong response, the company has extended it to the XEV 9S and XEV 9e. More importantly, buyers can choose the scheme across every variant of the three electric SUVs.
The lower entry prices could make these models easier to consider for people who are not comfortable paying the battery and vehicle cost together. The monthly payment, however, will depend on the buyer’s finance terms and usage.
Mahindra now has one BaaS structure covering its full Electric Origin SUV range. For buyers, the main attraction is the lower upfront price, but the complete ownership cost should still be checked before making a decision.
