Ather has another electric scooter ready for the Indian market, but this one has a slightly different job. The company has confirmed the name of its new scooter as Konarc. It will make its official debut on August 29 at Ather Community Day. The scooter was earlier shown as the EL01 concept and will be the first production model based on Ather’s new EL platform.
Designed For Daily Riding
The Konarc has a family scooter shape rather than the sporty look seen on the Ather 450 range. It has a long seat, a large floorboard and a fairly bulky rear section.
The visible design details include:
- Handlebar mounted headlamp
- Wide LED DRL on the front apron
- Illuminated Ather branding
- Slim LED tail lamps
- Front disc brake
- 14 inch front wheel
- 12 inch rear wheel
- Long single piece seat
- Metal body panels
The metal body is an interesting change for Ather. Its existing scooters mainly use polymer body panels.
Ather EL Platform Explained
Konarc will introduce Ather’s EL platform in a production scooter. The company says it has used more than 26 lakh kilometres of field data while developing the platform.
The platform is also flexible enough to support different scooter sizes and battery packs.

The scooter will enter a competitive space with names such as:
- TVS iQube
- Bajaj Chetak
- Hero Vida VX2
Ather is also looking at practical areas such as comfort, charging, service costs, safety and everyday usability with the EL platform.
Battery And Performance Details
Ather has not revealed the final battery size or motor specifications yet. The company is also yet to announce official charging time, performance figures and delivery details.
The expected riding range is around 100 to 120 km on a single charge, but the official figure will be known only after the launch.
