Mahindra Delivers 3000 Origin EVs in Just 20 Days

Quick Overview:

  • Mahindra delivers over 3000 Origin EVs in less than three weeks
  • XEV 9e takes the lead with 59% of total bookings
  • New ‘Default’ mode mimics ICE driving for easy EV transition

Mahindra’s new electric SUVs—the XEV 9e and BE 6—are off to a flying start. The company has delivered over 3,000 units across India since March 20, 2025. That’s under 20 days. Not bad for something that doesn’t need petrol.

Which of the two models were sold more?

The deliveries mark the official rollout of Mahindra’s all-electric Origin line-up. Between the two models, the XEV 9e seems to be winning hearts (and parking spaces) with a 59% share of total bookings. The BE 6 follows with 41%. Both are seeing strong traction, especially for the fully-loaded Pack Three variant.

Demand is hot enough that waiting periods have already stretched up to six months in some regions. Mahindra says it’s ramping up deliveries to ease the backlog.

Mahindra introduces new driving mode

To ease the shift for first-time EV buyers, Mahindra is offering a new ‘Default’ driving mode. It’s meant to mimic the feel of a traditional petrol-powered car—so if you’re switching to electric for the first time, you don’t have to worry about sudden regen braking or unfamiliar acceleration patterns.

New owners also get a digital welcome kit—basically a set of video guides covering everything from charging habits to maximizing range and making the most of connected features. It’s Mahindra’s way of saying, “Congrats on going green—here’s how not to get stuck with 3% battery and no plan.”

Specs & Segment Check

Mahindra hasn’t yet revealed detailed numbers on range or performance for the XEV 9e and BE 6, but both sit in the mid-size SUV territory. Expect them to compete with the Hyundai Creta EV, Tata Harrier EV (once launched) and even higher trims of the MG ZS EV.

Final Thoughts:

Mahindra’s gone full throttle on electric, and the early numbers look promising. With quirky names like BE 6 and XEV 9e, you might think they were Star Wars droids—but they’re real, they’re here, and they’re rolling off the lot fast. Let’s just hope you get yours before your neighbour does.
