Top 5 Craziest Custom Drag-car Builds

Drag racing. It is in my opinion, one of the simplest and most interesting, old-school forms of racing. 2 or more cars lined up on the straight track. One burnout to warm the tires. The cars are lined up at the start and the tires and engine are warmed up after the burnout-electricity in the air. The cars are at the signal, ready to take off, the drivers and everyone else are nervous, excited, on the edge, adrenaline pumping, hearts racing. The moment they get the call and the signal turns green, the cars take off, at full speed, race their cars hard and push them to the limit, as if their life depends on the straight quarter-mile because it feels like it does.

So, that sums up what drag racing is. Now, especially in the United States, and other countries outside of India, there are crazy, revolutionary, and passionate enthusiasts like me, who actually customize their cars specifically for drag racing. Some of them are so insane that you might have to read them twice to believe them. And that will sum up this Top 5 list.

Dodge demon 1500 HP custom build-“Lucifer”-(World’s fastest Dodge Demon)

The Dodge Demon is already a crazy car from the factory. It was built by engineers with only one purpose in mind-dominating the drag strip. It came with a 2.7-liter supercharger, drag radial tires, an option to switch to high-octane fuel, and 840 horsepower, FROM THE FACTORY! But that is not the most insane thing that I am talking about. What I am talking about is even more insane! This Dodge Demon was modified to go even faster and quicker. It makes 1500 horsepower, twin turbos, carbon fiber body treatment, to reduce weight and increase horsepower. By the way, this amazing build was made by SpeedKore. The use of carbon fiber makes this bad boy 15 percent lighter than the stock Demon. Now, the reason they used turbos is that turbos are more efficient and they were able to produce more power with it, without any power loss. Superchargers require input from the engine in order to work, which can result in up to 20 percent power loss, unlike turbochargers.

Ekanoo Racing Outlaw Supra

IS THAT A SUPRA?! Damn right, it is! How could I not include a Supra in this list? The Supra makes for a really good tunable drag car! It is rear-wheel drive and its engine has a lot of potential for modifications, at a relatively affordable cost. To prove my point, the Ekanoo Racing team modified a Supra and added a Precision Turbo and a tuned Liberty Transmission. The car reached a top speed of a blistering 240.8 mph (385.28 km/h)!

Twin-turbo Lamborghini Huracan

The Lamborghini Huracan is already an insane car. But, it’s naturally aspirated. Now, imagine the same engine insane V10 engine, but with two turbos. Now, stop imagining, because something insane like this exists! This Twin-turbo Huracan set the half-mile World Record in 2018, at a speed of 257 mph (411.2 km/h).

All Wheel Drive Civic Drag Build

Speed Factory Racing brought their modified Honda Civic hatchback to the track and hit the quarter-mile in a blistering 7.18 seconds at a crazy top speed of 199.2 mph (318.72 km/h). The Honda Civic, known for VTEC, and its ability to go fast at an affordable rate, is already insane. This build pushes it to another level, and shows that the Civic is a good platform for modifications.

Thrust SSC

This one is a wild-card entry. This one, unlike others, is not a modified production car. It does not take part in drag races, it requires a desert empty enough for it to stretch its legs and requires parachutes to stop it because the brakes aren’t just enough! This one is a machine, tailor-made for breaking land-speed records. It works on two Rolls-Royce turbofan Jet Engines, and makes an unbelievable 102,000 horsepower! It holds the world land speed record which has been held to this day! Set on 15th October 1997 by the driver Andy Green, this insane missile of a car achieved a speed of an earth-shattering 1,228 km/h (763 mph)! This is the first vehicle to break the sound barrier. Yeah, you heard that right, it is SUPERSONIC!!!!

This shows that when it comes to insane drag builds, there are no limits, and the idea of an “insane” drag build in itself is subjective. So, the million-dollar question, is that, what is your idea of an insane drag build?
