[UPDATED] 2016 Hyundai Tucson India launch confirmed for November 14

Hyundai fans have a reason to rejoice as the Indian arm of the Korean automobile manufacturer has revealed the launch date of the upcoming 2016 Tucson. Hyundai India has chosen November 14 as the launch date for the new Tucson SUV. Test mules of the model have been spied testing on various occasions after the model made its Indian debut at the 2016 Auto Expo.

Visually, the 2016 receives Hyundai’s signature hexagonal shaped grille and twin LED headlamps with DRLS upfront while the posterior will be equipped with LED tail lamps inspired by the i20 range. For the interiors, the model will feature an all black theme with contrasting silver trims that are visible on the HVAC vents and the center console, leather wrapped steering wheel and an eight inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Internationally, the 2016 Tucson is available with a 1.7 litre diesel engine, 2.0 litre diesel engine and a 1.4 litre petrol engine. It is likely that only the 2.0 litre diesel engine would make it to the Indian shores. This engine produces a maximum power output of 182 hp while the peak torque is rated at 400 Nm. Hyundai India could launch the model only with a manual transmission while an automatic transmission could follow later.

Once launched, the Tucson will be placed in between the Creta compact SUV and the SantaFe premium SUV. Expect the model to arrive in India via the CKD route and a command a price tag in the range of INR 17 – 22 lakh (Ex-Showroom) based on the variant and fuel type.
