Fuel prices were slashed for the fourth successive occasion as the prices of petrol and diesel were reduced by INR 1 and INR 2 per litre respectively. The new prices, which come into effect from the midnight of 15th August/ 16th August, will see petrol cost INR 60.09 per litre while diesel will cost INR 50.27 per litre in Delhi.
Indian Oil corporation issued a statement that said, “The current level of international product prices of Petrol & Diesel and INR-USD exchange rate warrant decrease in price of Petrol and increase in price of Diesel, the impact of which is being passed on to the consumers with this price revision. The movement of prices in the international oil market and INR-USD exchange rate shall continue to be monitored closely and developing trends of the market will be reflected in future price changes.”
