Maruti Suzuki will launch their highly anticipated compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza on 21 March, says a report from ET Auto. Upon launch, the Vitara Brezza is expected to be priced aggressively, due to a high localisation level of 98 percent. Maruti’s latest will be competing against the likes of the Ford Ecosport, Renault Duster and the Mahindra TUV300.
Developed at a cost of INR 860 Crore, the Vitara Brezza is Maruti’s first indigenously developed product, with Suzuki chipping in with the platform and drive-train. It’s below four meters in length and styled well, with a fair bit of customization options thrown in as well. The Vitara Brezza draws power from Suzuki’s tried and tested 1.3-litre DDIS 200 diesel engine, rated at 88.5 bhp and 200 Nm of torque; mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. A petrol variant is due soon.
Features on offer include projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, 16-inch alloy wheels with 215 section tyres, Maruti’s SmartPlay touch-screen infotainment system with navigation and rear-view camera, cruise control, automatic climate control, ABS, EBD and dual front airbags. The compact SUV will come in four variants – LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+.
