Mercedes-Benz India launched the all-new Mercedes-AMG C 63 S in India today, with prices starting from INR 1.3 Crore (e-showroom Delhi). The C 63 is Affalterbach’s best selling model, with the last generation model selling as many as 40,000 units in 2014; not bad for a V8-powered family saloon which scooted from 0-100 kph in just 4.3 seconds. The new one, however does it in 4.0 seconds flat.
In India, only the S variant is available, which is also the quicker of the two. Power comes from an AMG  4.0 litre twin turbo V8 engine, good for 510 hp and 700 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission, which offers a choice of five modes, ranging from Comfort to Race, including an Individual mode. The new C 63 S rides on electronically controlled shock absorbers, while a mechanical rear axle with locking differential encourages going sideways when the mood arises.
Furthermore, one can opt for the AMG Performance Package, which adds a high-performance braking system, a performance exhaust system with selctable flap control, a sports suspension setup, an electronic rear-axle with limited-slip differential and dynamic engine mounts.
Visually, the C 63 S can be differentiated from the standard C-Class following a handful of cues, which includes a couple of power domes on the aluminium bonnet, a “twin blade”, AMG -specific radiator grille, LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights, aggressive bumpers with quad exhaust tips at the rear, 19″ AMG alloy wheels shaded in grey or matt black, and V8 bi-turbo badges on the flanks. The AMG Performance package adds a splattering of carbon-fibre on the outside, including the mirror caps.
The insides of the C 63 S come upholstered in black nappa leather which can be beautified further using the designo package, while interior trim options include glass-fibre, two choices of wood or carbon fibre. Other embellishments comprise of an AMG-specific instrument cluster, a 3-spoke flat-bottom AMG steering wheel, AMG sports seats, a head-up display measuring 21 x 7 cm that appears to float on the bonnet, ambient lighting, and automatic climate control. The C 63 S can be had in four exterior colour options; Obsidian Black, Iridium Silver, Brilliant Blue and Polar White.
