Earlier last month, we gave you the spy images of the upcoming 2016 Skoda Superb. Now the news is out that the all new 2016 Skoda Superb is set for a India launch in January 2016 and is expected to be showcased at the upcoming Delhi Auto Expo 2016.
The 2016 Superb carries huge design cues from the Volkswagen Passat and seems to be inspired by the Vision C, but whatever it may be, it still is a fabulous looking car. From the sharply styled bi-Xenon headlamps to the smart tailgate through the clean sophisticated lines on the sides, the Skoda Superb feels urbane. The edgier and aggressive styled 2016 Superb is expected to roll out with five petrol and three diesel engine options.
The petrol configs will be like –
- 1.4 TSI (125 PS-200 Nm)
- 1.4 TSI (150 PS-250 Nm)
- 1.8 TSI (180 PS-250 Nm)
- 2.0 TSI (220 PS-350 Nm)
- 2.0 TSI (280 PS-350 Nm)
The diesel engine line up will comprise of –
- 1.6 TDI (120 PS-250 Nm)
- 2.0 TDI (150 PS-340 Nm)
- 2.0 TDI (190 PS-400 Nm)
All engines meet the emission standards of EU6 and are fitted with a start-stop system and brake energy recuperation. Apart from the basic petrol engine, all others will be paired to a modern dual-clutch DSG gearbox. The Superb will also feature an all-wheel drive variant featuring the 5th generation Haldex system.
Just like the previous models, the 2016 Skoda Superb will be packed with plush styling and comfort. The car will also have a few new firsts like the adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) including Driving Mode Select, a new three-zone climate control system and new connectivity solutions. An 8-inch touchscreen MirrorLink infotainment system, high speed internet access based on LTE, smartphone apps compatibility will be available on this feature rich Superb.
Along with all that, the 2016 Skoda Superb will also feature a electric panoramic tilt and slide roof, electronically adjustable front seats with lumbar support and memory function, tyre pressure monitoring system and an electrically operated tailgate at the rear.
On the safety front, the Superb scores high with the maximum 5-star rating in the Euro NCAP crash tests. The 2016 Superb boasts a long list of safety features right from the electronic Stability Control (ESC) to the emergency brake function. The Superb will also come equipped with seven airbags with a option of additional rear side airbags.
The features on this Superb will be region specific hence the Indian variant may miss out on a few extravaganza features of this beauty. The car is expected to be in the price range of Rs 24 – 30 lakh ex-showroom.
