BBC Top Gear Trailer

Matt LeBlanc to Ride a Ducati 1299 Superleggera in Top Gear Series 24

Joey… okay, Matt LeBlanc will be seen riding a Ducati 1299 Superleggera on Top Gear Series 24. Now motorcycles are a rare sight on the British motoring television series and the Superleggera is indeed a special Ducati. Speaking to the folks at CarScoops ahead of the latest series, LeBlanc said that the 24th season will feature, “the Bugatti Chiron, even a Ducatti 1299 Superleggera, a spectacular bike I rode to LeMans.”

Other exotics that’d be seen on the show along with Bugatti Chiron and the 1299 Superleggera include the Ferrari FXX K, the Ford GT, the Aston Martin DB11, the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and the eight-wheeled Shaman.

In case you missed our previous reports, the Superleggera, which literally translates to Super Light, is the first ever factory bike to be equipped with a carbon fibre frame, swingarm, subframe and wheels. It’s super lightweight, it’s frighteningly powerful and stunningly beautiful. The fairing – also made of carbon fibre – is another key element which gives the motorcycle such light weight, tipping the scale at 156 kg (dry) and 167 kg (kerb).

The 1299 Superleggera also gets the highest-performing version of the Superquadro. Thanks to its 215 hp, the desmodromic engine on the 1299 Superleggera is the most powerful factory twin-cylinder ever built. It should be a special episode! While you wait for that, check out the teaser video of Series 24 below.

(PS: Someone took away food from Joey!)
