Today morning, our friend Omkar Kulkarni sent us a new set of Tata Zest spy images, which show a highly camouflaged Zest test mule being tested on the outskirts of Pune. While enough is already known about the upcoming car’s aesthetics, these new spy images reveal that Tata Motors could have bestowed the Zest with a new front fascia! True, the heavy camouflage prevents us from having a good look at the front-end styling but it is very evident that the car has been given a new front grille, which has twin chrome slats running across it, rather than the honeycomb mesh design of the show car’s grille.

The manufacturer has said that the name Zest “signifies enthusiasm for life, for the sense of excitement, anticipation, and energy it brings, approaching life as an adventure. It is all about being vivacious and energetic” and the new compact sedan has been designed by Tata Motors’ design studios in Pune (India), Coventry (UK) and Turin (Italy).  The Zest is 3995 mm long, 1695 mm wide and 1570 mm high. The Zest tips the scales at 1,106 kg and as a fuel tank capacity of 44 liters.

Powering the new Zest is a new four pot 1.2-liter turbo petrol Revotron engine that has a max power of 85 PS @ 5,000 rpm and peak torque of 140 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm. Powering the diesel variant is the tried and tested 1.3-liter Quadrajet common rail turbo diesel engine. This engine has a power of 90 PS @ 4,000 rpm and peak torque of 200 Nm @ 1,750-3,000 rpm.
The diesel variant will come with F-Tronic 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission.
