Hyundai India has launched the Automatic version for the Grand i10 1.2 liter petrol engine variant. The price of the automatic variant is Rs 5.64 lakh ex-showroom Delhi for the base Sportz variant. It’s notable that only the Sportz and Asta variants will feature the auto transmission. Lower variants will be available only with the manual gearbox.
Hyundai always maintained that it will launch an automatic version of the recently launched Grand i10. The popular carmaker, however, delayed the launch by a few months after the launch of the manual transmission cars. Feature wise, no changes have been made on the AT car, except for a few modifications made to the instrumentation console to reflect the data related with the auto variant better.
For now, the auto transmission is available only with the 1.2 liter 83PS petrol motor. There is buzz about the 1.1 liter diesel variant also getting an auto tranny very soon. Once that happens, the Grand i10 will be the only hatch in its segment to feature an auto transmission with a diesel engine, and offer a great option to people hunting for an economical diesel hatch with AT.
The new four speed automatic transmission on the Grand i10 is the same unit as used on the Verna and the i20 models. Bookings for the car are open and deliveries should start in the next 15-20 days. You can book the auto variant of the Grand i10 for a sum of Rs 10,000.
