Volkswagen India, the Indian subsidiary of popular European carmaker, recently announced the launch of the new Polo GT TDI.
The new Polo GT TDI comes equipped with a 1.6 litres 4-cylinder turbo-diesel engine which has a max power of 77 kW (105 PS) and a peak torque of 250 Nm. With this, the new Polo GT TDI becomes the most powerful diesel hatchback in its segment. The Volkswagen Polo GT TDI is priced at Rs. 8.08 lakh, ex showroom, Delhi.
Commenting on the launch of the New Polo GT TDI, Mr. Arvind Saxena, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. Ltd said “We are committed to bringing in the latest and the most efficient vehicle technologies to the Indian market. The New Polo GT TDI has been created to cater to the requirements of discerning customers, who want the best possible mix of strong power delivery, outstanding driving dynamics and class-leading fuel efficiency.”
In addition to class-leading power and performance, the New Polo GT TDI offers an ARAI-certified 19.78 kmpl of fuel efficiency.
Sales of the Polo GT TDI will commence from September 13, 2013.

It can be clearly understood that the upcoming Polo variant is aimed at those prospective hot hatch buyers who are scared of high fuel prices and hence, are apprehensive of putting their money on the GT TSI. It remains to be seen if the GT TDi would become as popular as the Fiat Palio 1.6 GTX, the hot hatch of yore.
