The Much Awaited Tata Altroz Is All Set To Make Its India Debut Tomorrow

Tata’s much-awaited premium hatchback – Altroz, is finally going to make its India debut tomorrow. The car was initially unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 as the 45X concept, after which it made its global debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show in a production-ready version. Recently, Tata Motors rolled out the first unit of the Altroz from its production plant in Pune. The car is set to be unveiled in Jaisalmer tomorrow and will go on sale by January 2020. Once launched, the car will take on the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the newly launched Toyota Glanza in the premium hatchback segment.

The Altroz is based on Tata Motors’ new ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture and will be the brand’s first car to be equipped with a BS-VI compliant engine. The car could be available with 3 engine options: a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine producing 100 HP at 5,500 rpm and 140 Nm of peak torque between 1,750 and 4,000 rpm, a 1.5-litre diesel engine producing around 90 HP and a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine producing about 84 HP. The petrol engines will likely be paired with 5-speed manual transmissions and the diesel might get a 6-speed manual, while an automatic gearbox might be launched sometime later.

In terms of features, the Altroz will also be getting a new flat-bottom steering wheel design, a big floating-type infotainment display and a bunch of new connectivity features. Apart from all this, the Altroz will also be getting a new EV variant by early next year. The EV variant of the Altroz will be powered by Tata’s latest Ziptron technology. This new and efficient technology will aim to achieve a total range of 250 – 300 kms on a full charge. The Ziptron tech will also feature fast-charging that will help the battery charge up to 80% in under 60 minutes. Prices for the Altroz are expected to start from INR 7-9 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Recently, Tata Motors also named the H7X concept as Gravitas for the Indian market. This upcoming flagship SUV will be the second vehicle to be built on the OMEGA (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced) architecture, which is derived from Land Rover’s legendary D8 platform. The SUV will make its way to India in February 2020 and will likely be unveiled/launched at the Auto Expo in Delhi. Expect the prices to start from INR 18-20 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
