The upcoming compact sedan from Tata Motors has been in the news for quite some time now. For now called as the Tata Kite 5 (project name) compact sedan, the car has been spotted in camouflage during its road test. The automaker has been extensively testing the Kite duo, out of which the Kite hatchback or now officially known as the Tata Tiago finally made its way to the showrooms earlier this month. Coming to the Tata Kite 5, the compact sedan has been spotted again stationed in a, what it looks like, a parking lot; along with the spy shots a new video has surfaced showing the compact sedan in action!
The spotted Tata Kite 5 is in camouflage that tries to hide the necessary details and avoid unwanted attention while on the test run. But it seems that the extensive testing of the vehicle has resulted into the peeling off of the camouflage stickers. The spy shot shows a Kite 5 Compact sedan stands in the Sunburst Orange colour that is offered with the Tiago. The exposed bits reveal a dark shade bumper as seen on base variants giving an impression that it may be a low-end trim, but it also features a set of alloy wheels as seen on top-end trims. A chrome garnish can be seen on the tailgate. The Kite 5 takes a stance in sort of a coupe silhouette that gives it a sporty look. The vehicle is said to be based on Tata’s new ‘Impact’ design philosophy.
The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan will roll out with both – petrol and diesel engines that power the Tiago. The petrol power will come from a Revotron 1.2L three pot engine that will be good for peak power of 83 Bhp and 114 Nm of torque. The diesel power will be drawn from a 1.05L engine that will make 69 Bhp and 140Nm of torque. The engines will be assisted by a 5-speed manual transmission.
The Tata Kite 5 was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo that was held at Delhi NCR in the month of February. It was also showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. The Tiago has been making waves in the Indian automobile market at the moment even after such a huge delay in its launch the excitement for the hatchback didn’t subside. The Tiago is said to be packed with impressive premium bits inside its up-market body design. We expect a similar or a much better quality and performance from the compact sedan version. For now, there are no official announcements or updates on the launch of this vehicle. On reaching the markets the Kite 5 sedan will definitely have a new name and will go head-on with the Ford Figo Aspire, Hyundai Xcent and the Maruti Suzuki Dzire.
