Mahindra Quanto Launched @ INR 5.82 lakhs

Mahindra has finally launched the much anticipated 2012 Quanto compact SUV for starting price of INR 5.82 lakhs (Ex showroom, Thane).The vehicle is available in 5+2 seater layout. Entry to the last two seats is through the tail gate. The last seats also get a pair of butterfly quarter windows for ventilation.

The Mini Xylo, nay, the Quanto is basically a sub-4 meter version of the highly popular Xylo MPV and comes with new mCR1000 turbo diesel engine. As we had reported earlier, the new motors is has 3 cylinder that together displace a total volume of 1.5 Litre and the forced induction is courtesy a twin turbo setup. This gives the small powerplant a peak power output of 100 Bhp and a max torque of 240 Nm. Mahindra is claiming an ARAI certified fuel economy of 17 Kmpl.

The Quanto has body-on-ladder architecture that has been derived from that of the bigger Xylo MPV and the interior of the new vehicle is very similar to that of the new Xylo, and would feature similar hard wearing plastics and functional switchgear and instrumentation. The Quanto is available in four varaints- C2, C4, C6 & C8. All variants except for the C2 get Mahindra’s Micro Hybrid Technology. C6 & C8 also get Digital Driver Assist System. While the C6 gets only ABS as safety feature, the top end version (C8) is also equipped with EBD and dual Airbags. The Quanto is offers 6 paint options- Black, Brown, Silver, Beige, Red and White.

The Mahindra Quanto will be seen rubbing shoulders with the ‘not so popular’ Premier Rio and the high selling Renault Duster. Quanto will also be soon seen locking horns with the upcoming Ford EcoSport crossover that has taken many international markets by a storm.
