While the newly introduced Yamaha R2 has captured the spotlight for the brand’s sportbike range, the popular R15 V4 maintains its strong position in the lineup. Yamaha has now expanded the availability of its quickshifter feature to two additional colours. Buyers looking at Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White can now opt for this technology, which was previously exclusive to the Intensity White variant.
This update focuses entirely on the quickshifter availability. There are absolutely no modifications to the engine, gearbox, or any other mechanical components of the motorcycle.

Quickshifter Options
The R15 V4 comes equipped with a uni-directional quickshifter, which allows clutchless upshifts. It does not support clutchless downshifts like the bi-directional system offered on the Yamaha R2.
The feature is available on three colour options:
- Racing Blue
- Matte Pearl White
- Intensity White
The quickshifter costs Rs 4,650 more than the standard motorcycle. The price for these colours with the feature is Rs 1,79,500 ex-showroom, Delhi.
Yamaha R15 V4 Engine
The R15 V4 continues with its familiar 155cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. It uses a four-valve setup and comes with a six-speed gearbox.
Key specifications include:
- Engine: 155cc
- Power: 18.4hp
- Torque: 14.2Nm
- Gearbox: 6-speed
- Quickshifter: Uni-directional
There is no performance update with this latest change. The motorcycle continues with the same mechanical package.

R15 V4 Still Gets Its Sporty Hardware
Apart from the new colour-wise quickshifter availability, the R15 V4 continues with its existing equipment. Depending on the version, the motorcycle gets features such as LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth connectivity and dual-channel ABS.
The motorcycle has also built a reputation around its compact size and sporty riding setup. Its 155cc engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox, giving it a familiar package for riders looking for a smaller-capacity sports bike.
R2 Gets A Different Quickshifter Setup
The new Yamaha R2 sits above the R15 in Yamaha’s current sportbike line-up. It gets a more powerful engine along with a bi-directional quickshifter.
The R2 also gets equipment such as adjustable suspension, adjustable levers and adjustable footpegs. This gives it a different equipment package compared with the R15 V4.
For the R15, Yamaha has kept the update much smaller, with the quickshifter now available with Racing Blue and Matte Pearl White.
