Volvo recently launched the XC40 Recharge at ₹55.90 lakh and the bookings are now open with a token of ₹ 50,000. The company has now announced that the deliveries will start in October 2022. This new EV has a waiting time of three to six months. However, the waiting period depends on the selection of exterior paint and the allocation of units for the market. The XC40 Recharge competes with the Kia EV6 and BMW i4 both of which are undercut by the Volvo.

The XC40 Recharge is powered by two electric motors delivering the output of 402 hp and 660 Nm of peak torque. The 78kWh battery pack is placed under the front seats for extra space. The new Volvo XC40 Recharge runs from 0 to 100kmph in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 180kmph. The claimed WLTP range of this car is 418 km. It offers 0 to 80 percent charge in just 40 minutes by 150kW DC fast charger while 0 to 100 takes eight to ten hours by an 11kW AC fast charger. The company is offering a three years warranty on the car and an eight-year warranty on the batteries.

The Volvo XC40 recharge gets a new nine-inch Android-based infotainment system connected with Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Volvo’s connected car tech, through the ‘Volvo On Call App’, to preheat or pre-cool the car remotely. While other techs include a digital driver’s display unit, dual-zone automatic climate control, four USB-C ports, a Harman Kardon stereo system, and a panoramic sunroof.

Additional features of XC40 Recharge have powered front seats with memory and Level 2 Autonomous Driving capability. The safety features include four high-definition 360-degree cameras for parking view, a blind spot information system, lane aid, cross-traffic alert, and also a set of adaptive headlights. It comes with a blacked-out grille and new dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels and 175 mm ground clearance. While boot space is 452 liters, with an additional 31-liter boot under the bonnet. This sub-compact electric SUV is made on the same design platform as XC40 I.C.E version.
