The fan-made render of the ‘all-new’ Mahindra Armada took us to the 1990s for a moment. The digitally created artwork gave us an insight of what the long gone hero could look like in its futuristic avatar. So, here we are again talking about another legend of the 1990s that was and still is a dream car for many – The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy. Well, this is no normal Gypsy with stock apparatus we are talking about here, but its crazy alter-ego that can set ablaze the dragstrip; the makers call it the Big Bang Gypsy!

The Big Bang Gypsy is built by Pavan Ranagaraj and his crew and it participated at the Drag Meet that was conducted in the capital of the State of Karnataka, Bangalore. The Gypsy has been transformed from an outgoing SUV to a potent dragster. The folks at StayTunedIndia have documented a part of the Gypsy’s journey from testing to the drag event.

So, before we move onto the Big bang Gypsy, let’s have a look at the specifics of the stock model. The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy is powered by a G13BB MPFI 16-valve petrol engine. In stock form, this 1,298cc unit makes 80 Bhp at 6,000 rpm and 103 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Now coming to the Big Bang Gypsy, the drag machine is loaded with a lot of performance upgrades and the list is long and the maker says that more is on the way.
