VIDEO: 2017 KTM Duke Range Officially Teased ; Unveil on 8th November 2016

Being a fan of KTM bikes, especially of the Duke series, I have been waiting for this day for a long time now. Finally, the Austrian Motorcycle marquee (co-owned by Bajaj Auto) has officially dropped a teaser video of their upcoming Duke model. The video has been put up on KTM’s micro-side that is specially created for KTM Dukes and goes by the same name.

Along with the video, the micro-site also displays the date of the unveil event. The Duke line-up is all set to break cover on the 8th of November 2016. The video only shows the new split LED headlight unit of the bike.

Reportedly, the bike maker will use of the upcoming EICMA 2016 as a podium for the bikes. While the official event is still a week away, we already have a host of details of the upcoming Duke. Test mules of the 200cc variant of the naked roadster were spotted doing rounds on various occasions. Even under a camouflage the test mules revealed a host of details of the upcoming bike. We also had a chance to share a first look video of the upcoming Duke 390 that seems to be a test prototype. And here’s a list of all the things you can expected from the upcoming model.

Design and Features

  • The upcoming KTM Duke 200 and Duke 390 will receive sharper styling as seen on the bigger KTM bikes
  • The bikes will get an all-new sub frame that will be bolted on to the main frame; this combination is aimed at greater stability.
  • As seen on the test mule of the Duke 200, the bike will get a new front brake lever with a new master cylinder to boost braking performance.
  • Newly designed split LED headlight unit.
  • More new bits will include – tank mounted ignition key slot, redesigned seat, RC-style grab rails, and a new instrument cluster with re-organised elements.
  • Front suspension now comes in a darker shade while rear suspension receives an extra fibre cover for mud protection
  • The conventional Steel saree guard is replaced by fibre saree guard
  • The models will retain the – switchable dual channel ABS, larger front disc brake (320mm), slipper clutch, and Metzeler tyres.

Moving on to the engine,

  • The next gen KTM Duke will draw power from the same motor as the current models but reworked to be Euro IV compliant.
  • Euro 4 compliant engine on the KTM RC390 is expected to produce 44 Bhp and 35 Nm of torque.
  • The bike will feature an up-swept conventionally positioned exhaust system instead of the underbelly unit
  • The refinement levels are expected to go up as well
