Updated Mahindra XUV300 Teased, Launch Soon

Mahindra has teased the updated version of XUV300 on its social media handles. The teaser says “0- thrill in a blink of an eye”. This indicates that the updated compact SUV will feature a more powerful motor which will enable it to have class-leading performance figures. The teaser also shows the XUV300 donning Mahindra’s new twin peaks logo. Let’s take a look at what else we can expect from the updated XUV300:

What to expect

The biggest change in the updated xuv300 will be its new petrol motor. The new 1.2-litre TGDI engine is a part of the mStallion range of petrol motors that were introduced at the Auto Expo 2020. What’s so exciting about this new 1.2-liter turbocharged motor? It makes 130 PS of power and 230 Nm of torque, which is an increment of 20 PS and 30 Nm over the current petrol engine which powers the XUV300. This new motor utilizes direct injection instead of multi-point fuel injection and has been paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Mahindra could also pair it with an AMT. The engine was plonked inside the Sportz variant that was showcased at the Auto Expo 2020.

The Sportz variant featured red brake calipers, decals on the front and rear doors with Sportz lettering, an all-black interior with red highlights, and red contrast stitching on the seats. However, the teaser doesn’t show any of the cosmetic changes which we saw on the Sportz edition. Other than the new logo, the overall design of XUV300 is expected to remain the same. Mahindra could introduce some new color schemes for the updated XUV300. The interior could be updated with more features including a larger touchscreen infotainment system. The diesel engine is expected to be carried over unchanged.

Mahindra is also set to reveal the XUV400 electric soon

XUV400 EV

Mahindra is set to reveal its XUV300-based XUV400 EV in the coming weeks. The XUV400 will be the first long-range EV by Mahindra. Based on the I.C.E powered XUV300 SUV, the XUV400 electric will not be a compact SUV. Instead, it will be more of a mid-size SUV like Creta in terms of size. The XUV400 will compete against the likes of Tata Nexon EV, Nexon EV Max, and MG ZS EV.  The claimed range of this SUV is expected to be above 400 km to give tough competition to the current E-SUVs in the market. The powertrain will be handled by a single motor and two-wheel-drive setup. Although the company has not revealed any other information about the specification or the price range, we can expect it to start with a price tag of less than ₹15 lakh (ex. showroom).
