Upcoming Mahindra S101 to be Dubbed XUV100

After launching the TUV 300 compact SUV this month, Mahindra & Mahindra is gearing up to launch the upcoming compact crossover internally codenamed as S101. According to a report, the S101 will be dubbed as Mahindra XUV100 on the lines of the bigger XUV500. The XUV100 is reported to grace the Indian showrooms this financial year.

Mahindra’s first vehicle with the XUV moniker, the XUV500 is the Indian UV maker’s first monocoque crossover and the Mahindra is planning to ride on its prevalence and legacy by naming this new model as the XUV100. Focused at conservative hatchback clients, the XUV100 is liable to get a cab-forward configuration, where the A-column begins only toward the front’s back wheel curve, which brings about more inside room.

The Mahindra XUV100 will accompany an all-new arrangement of 1.2-liter petrol and diesel motors. In the first row, the XUV100 will feature a bench seat as the gear lever will be housed on the dashboard. Similar to the TUV300, it will also feature an AMT option.

Speaking to Autocar Professional, Dr Pawan Goenka, official executive and president (Auto and Farm Equipment Sectors), M&M, said “The refinement between what we call SUV, vehicle is all getting obscured. At the point when a client is hoping to purchase an auto, it is not so much “I need to purchase a hatchback, I need to purchase a SUV”; it is “I need to purchase an auto at this value point”. In that value point, the client will take a gander at what are the offerings accessible and they will straddle between a hatchback, a hybrid SUV and some of the time even between a hatchback and a car, if a vehicle includes some significant downfalls purpose of a hatchback. Along these lines, hence it is all the more a value point diversion for lion’s share of purchasers.”

The Mahindra XUV100 will be priced at around INR 4-5 lakh and will be targeted at the hatchbacks falling into the aforementioned price range. Stay tuned to Motoroids for more details.
