Volkswagen Vento face-lift:
Not much to talk about here- The updated Vento will reflect the new Polo’s styling, but whatever’s aft of the C-pillar will be a little new. Expect updated tail lamps with LED elements and new details on the rear bumper/boot. It is also expected to carry the same engines from the Polo GT hatchback as well which include the GT variants as well-Yum!
Skoda Yeti face-lift:
Awaiting a 10th September launch, the Yeti’s familiar shape takes to the new Skoda design philosophy, characterized mostly by edges and straight lines. However it does manage to look quite sharp, especially the new front fascia, with the new signature Skoda grille, rectangular-shaped headlights with optional bi-xenons and of course the flavor of the season- LED DRLs!. The back sees a revised tailgate and C-shaped tail lamps with optional LED elements. Re-tweaked bumpers, rear panels and new side protective moldings are also in. Mechanically, the car remains the same with both the 2.0-litre oil-burner versions have been carried over. The 108bhp mill comes mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and delivers power to the front wheels. The 138bhp motor is mated to a six-speed manual transmission and is available as a four-wheel-drive variant. Apart from that, a host of new features have been incorporated- full review coming up soon!
Mahindra Scorpio face lift:
It’s called flogging a dead horse. The Scorpio just refuses to die- a new face lifted version featuring upgraded styling and mechanical tweaks is expected shortly. The new look is still under wraps, but don’t expect something radical. The Scorpio is offered with two sets of engines- a 2.6-litre diesel producing 115bhp and 277Nm of torque as well as a more modern 2.2-litre mHawk oil burner that produces 120bhp and 290Nm of torque. The new one will continue with these motors. However, a squatter stance has been achieved, which points to an overhauled suspension setup- hopefully it’ll improve the woeful dynamics.
Mercedes Benz GLA:
The GLA compact luxury SUV is essentially an A-Class on stilts with a touch of ruggedness. Mercedes will launch the GLA in India on September 30th . The GLA 200 comes with a 181bhp 2.0-liter petrol engine while a 2.2-liter diesel engine does duty in the GLA 200 CDI. Both engines will be paired to a seven-speed gearbox, sending power to the front wheels. The Mercedes GLA is expected to compete with the likes of the Audi Q3, BMW X1 and the underrated Volvo V40 Cross Country.
Lamborghini Huracan:
Finishing things off with a super-car! The Lamborghini Huracan doesn’t need an introduction. But still, it’s here to fill the erstwhile Gallardo’s shoes and if initial reviews are anything to go by, it does a terrific job of it. The banshee V10 stays albeit with power updates ( 610 PS of power at 8,250 rpm and 560 Nm of torque at a high 6,500 rpm), but new is the clean slate design and a dual clutch transmission amongst other things. 0 to 60 mph is dispatched in a mere 3.2 seconds, and the new baby Lambo pulls cleanly till 325 km/h. Dealer/demo cars have already arrived in the country and India waits with bated breath for it’s 22nd September launch.
