Aesthetics and Features of Triumph 400 Twins

The design of the Triumph Speed and Scrambler 400-X motorcycles is inspired by the Triumph Speed 900 and the Scrambler 900. However, the design language of the Speed 400 is loaded with sporty modern attire but the Scrambler 400-X gets an upright stance. The notable difference is the large Chrome Exhaust, twin 5-spokes alike pattern of alloys, and a rear grab rail in Speed 400. While the Scrambler 400-X gets a different twin-shape exhaust muffler, multi-spoke alloys, and slimmer fuel tank, but misses out on a grab rail. Despite their affordable price tags, these bikes boast a premium fit and finish.

Both these bikes are equipped with modern features such as the digital-analog display blending a modern touch to its classic profile. Additionally, it’s worth noting that these bikes offer a rare feature in this segment: heated grips. This attention to detail and inclusion of unique features makes the Speed and Scrambler 400-X bikes stand out from their rivals.

Powertrain Options

Both the Triumph Speed 400 and Scrambler 400-X will be powered by the 398cc, TR-series, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The engine is tuned to churn out 40hp of power output at 8,000rpm and 37.5nm of torque output at 6,500rpm. However, this engine is coupled with a 6-Speed Manual Transmission which will ensure smooth gear shifting. In terms of output, this TR-series engine is in the league of KTM 390 but churns out at lower revs.

About Rim Size and Tyres of Triumph 400 Twins

The Speed 400 sits on 17-inch alloy rims on both the front and rear, paired with MRF Steel Brace rubber. Although it was initially showcased with premium Metzeler or Pirelli tires in international press shots but gets Steel Brace Rubber tyres.

Some Speed 400s were spotted with Apollo Alpha H1 rubber, making it uncertain about the tyres in the customer bikes. Similarly, the Scrambler 400-X rides on 19/17-inch alloy rims on both ends, mated to the dual-purpose MRF Zapper Kurve rubber.

Pricing, Warranty, and Competition

Triumph has retailed the Speed 400 in the price range at Rs. 2.33 Lakhs Ex-showroom. However, the prices of the Triumph Scrambler 400-X will be revealed later. In pricing aspect, the Speed 400 undercuts its rivals like KTM 390 Duke, BMW G310 R, and RE Interceptor 650.
