Toyota Hyryder Teased Ahead Of Global Debut

Toyota has finally teased its upcoming Hybrid Crossover aka the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The teaser not only gives us a sneak peek at the design but also confirms that the SUV will come with a Hybrid powertrain. The SUV will be above 4 meters and go up against the likes of Hyundai Creta and Skoda Kushaq. The Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to make its global debut on the 1st of July. Let’s take a look at it:

What to expect

The front fascia of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder features slim LED DRLs which are connected by a thick chrome strip. The chrome strip is further accentuated by a piano black background. The lower half features a large grille that houses the number plate. The LED headlights are placed below the LED DRLs and are surrounded by a black element. There’s also a silver skid plate on the bottom.

The SUV features a dual-tone color scheme and an electric sunroof as well. The side will feature 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and the SUV is expected to have a healthy ground clearance of more than 180mm. It gets a large ORVM which houses a camera underneath and the front fender gets a Hybrid badge too. The rear gets split LED taillamps which mimic the design of the LED DRLs up front. The interiors will get a ton of equipment such as connected car tech, 360-degree parking camera, heads-up display, smartphone connectivity, cruise control, auto-folding mirrors, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, and auto headlamps, and automatic climate control to name a few.

The crossover is rumored to have two petrol powertrains. The entry-level engine will feature mild-hybrid tech whereas the more expensive variants will get a strong hybrid powertrain. The engine is likely to be a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated unit which is found in other Toyotas abroad and the strong hybrid tech will help in boosting the fuel economy above 20 km/l. Transmission options will include a manual and an automatic with paddle shifters. The SUV will be manufactured at Toyota’s plant and we expect it to go on sale in August. Maruti will also be launching its own version of the Urban Cruiser Hyrydyer after Toyota.
