Tata Nexon iCNG Expected to Hit the Market Soon

Following its concept reveal at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2024, Tata Motors is preparing to launch the Nexon iCNG. This will occur after the Curvv coupe SUVs’ petrol and diesel variants are introduced on September 2.

The Nexon iCNG will feature Tata’s twin-cylinder technology, which uses two smaller cylinders mounted under the boot floor to maximize luggage space. Reports suggest. It will offer two transmission options: a five-speed manual and an automated manual transmission (AMT).

Powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, the Nexon iCNG will deliver 118bhp and 170Nm of torque in petrol mode, though power will be slightly reduced in CNG mode. The iCNG variant will share its exterior and interior design with the standard Nexon but may include specific mechanical upgrades and iCNG badges.

As India’s first turbocharged CNG vehicle, the Nexon iCNG will also be the third Tata model to offer a CNG-AMT combination, joining the Tigor and Tiago. With this addition, Tata’s CNG lineup will expand to include the Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, Punch, and now the Nexon, broadening the range of powertrain options available.
