Tata Motors has been one of the top three automakers in India next to Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai, consistently for quite some time now. This success is due to the brand’s new-age cars and SUVs like the Tiago, Altroz, Punch, Nexon, Harrier & Safari.
The Red Dark Editions
The carmaker recently updated its flagship SUV duo – the Harrier & Safari and also the Nexon with Red Dark editions. Apart from the cosmetic changes to the exterior and interiors, the brand has made some key revisions to the Harrier & Safari in terms of their tech and features.

The Red Dark Edition models of the Harrier-Safari have received ADAS tech and a completely new 10.25-inch infotainment screen along with an all-new 7-inch digital instrument cluster. This was a welcome and much-needed upgrade for the SUVs which earlier came with small laggy and unresponsive touchscreens.
Nexon, Altroz To Get Bigger Screens Too?
There’s news that now, even the Nexon & Altroz will be getting the larger screens from Tata. The automaker had showcased the Altroz Racer concept back at the AutoExpo 2023 wherein the Altroz also had the Harrier-Safari’s 10.25-inch touchscreen as well as the 7-inch digital cockpit cluster. The touchscreen stands freely and has glossy black bezels.

The Nexon will get these new updates in its new-gen avatar which was spotted testing on the road under full camouflage. The Altroz, however, will be getting the updates with its Racer Edition which will feature a stronger and more powerful engine along with an all-black interior look.
The Problem With Tata’s Current Touchscreens
Tata’s cars have proven to be excellent at keeping their occupants safely cocooned under accidents and fatal impacts. This has brought tremendous popularity and sales for the homegrown automaker. But there have always been a few major things that Tata cars lacked in. First, their unrefined engines which have now gotten smoother thanks to the emission norms, and second, their touchscreen infotainment systems.
Tata’s cars have always had laggy, glitchy infotainment screens which are smaller than what the competition offers. The UI (user interface) is known to be rather slow and unresponsive. Inputs take a long time to register and process. With the new touchscreens, things are looking bright for the brand.
