The two-wheeler division of Suzuki Motor Corporation, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. (SMIPL), reported overall sales of 87,859 units in October 2022, a 27% increase over the same month a year earlier.
Commenting on the sales performance, Mr. Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “We are elated to share that the company registered the highest overall sales figure of 87,859 units in October 2022. Considering the fact that Suzuki Motorcycle India sells premium products in the domestic market, this is a very satisfying culmination of our efforts.
This remarkable sales increase is a sign of the growing popularity of the brand in the domestic and overseas two-wheeler market. Looking at this sales momentum, we are confident that we will continue to experience steady demand both from the domestic and overseas markets in the future too.”
For its well-known scooter, the Suzuki Access 125, the business introduced a brand-new, attractive color version in October 2022. For the Suzuki Access 125 Ride Connect and Special Editions, the color “Solid Ice Green / Pearl Mirage White” has been added. In order to enhance the Suzuki scooter’s youthful and contemporary appeal, a new color was added to the existing color palette.
According to a senior company official, Suzuki Motorcycle India is also planning to invest Rs 200 crore in the first phase of its new production plant that would be built at IMT Kharkhoda in the Sonipat region of Haryana. A manufacturing facility in Gurugram now houses the two-wheeler manufacturer and has an installed annual production capacity of 1,100,000 units.
The plant operates at close to 90% of its capacity. Satoshi Uchida, the managing director of Suzuki Motorcycle India, announced that the business will invest Rs 200 crore in the IMT Kharkhoda facility’s first phase. The new facility will initially have an installed manufacturing capacity of 500,000 units per year, but capacity will be gradually increased.
Suzuki Motorcycle India sells big bikes (priced over Rs 5 lakh) like Hayabusa, Katana and V-Strom 650XT. Additionally, it sells motorcycles including the V-Strom SX, Gixxer, Gixxer SF and Gixxer 250. Burgman Street, Access 125, and Avenis are among its available scooters.
