It has been sometime since the current gen Hyundai Verna has been in business. The latest gen Verna, which is also known as the Accent in many markets, came to us way back in May 2011 and while its long features list, potent engines and chic ‘Fludic Sculpture’ caught the fancy of many, there is no denying that the car started looking a bit dated towards the mid of its career. True, the car did receive some minor updates in the name of facelift sometime back but basically, the car has remain largely unchanged and can surely do with a more comprehensive update.
Now, while the Indian subsidiary of Hyundai doesn’t seem to share our school of thoughts, Hyundai China seems to be thinking on the same lines as us.
Seen here are pics of what seem to be like the soon to be launched Hyundai Verna facelift. The China spec Hyundai Verna facelift gets new headlights that contain projector units, a new grille and a revised bumper. Back at the rear end, the car gets a new set of bumper reflectors. Talking about the front end, it seems like the designers at Hyundai have looked at the Mistra sedan for inspiration and the car does look considerably more matured with all the updates.
It may be noted that the India spec Verna is about to face heat from some fresher competition, which would consist of the new Honda City, Fiat Linea facelift and the new Maruti SX4 (YL1) sedan. Hence, we won’t be too surprised if Hyundai India decides to bring this facelift to our shores.
