Well, we do love a healthy rivalry in the auto world. BMW, Audi, and Mercedes have been at it for decades and the brands have come up with some creative ways to take on each other.

While the German rivals have entertained us with their knocks and blows, the Indian players have also entered the ring heating up the competition.
The Tata Nexon EV recently achieved the milestone of 35,000 units being sold and they certainly wanted to show that off. They took to the social media platform Instagram to post an image that showed 35,000 > 00. The interesting bit here is that the 00 is taken straight from the XUV400 logo. The post also said, “It’s Simple. Be better today and tomorrow.”

Tata has been leading the four-wheeler EV market in India since the launch of the Tata Nexon EV. Tata did beat all other manufacturers in launching a mass-market EV early on and has got the first-mover advantage. They were also quick to electrify their other popular cars – the Tigor EV launched last year and the Tiago EV launched this year. The Tiago EV is also priced really well and currently is the most affordable EV in India.

On the other hand, Mahindra showcased the XUV 300 electric at the 2019 auto-expo but could not launch the car early on. They revealed the car this year and we got a chance to drive it recently. However, Mahindra has not launched the car and the prices are yet to be announced. The same will be done early next year.

Both Tata and Mahindra have been working hard to electrify their ICE fleets and also bring in new fully electric models. While Tata showcases the Avinya and Curvv concepts, Mahindra showcases 5 SUVs in their Born Electric range. The competition is only set to get hotter as we enter 2023 and we are excited.
Tata might have been the first to pull the trigger, we now wait and see if Mahindra chooses to respond. It will be really good to see a healthy rivalry between the two Indian brands.
