Royal Enfield to trademark ‘Himalayan’ brand name – Could this be their new Adventure bike?

Royal Enfield Rider Mania 2014 (22)

In some news that is sure to send fluttering thumps across many push rod hearts in India, a new trademark application for the name “Royal Enfield Himalayan” has been filed in the European Union’s office for Harmonization in the internal market. According to the report, few details are available about the new product, however, the name strongly suggests that the ‘Himalayan’ could well be the manufacturer’s rumored Adventure motorcycle.

Interestingly, in an earlier report posted on bikeportal.in, they did mention about a Royal Enfield Adventure Tourer being in the works, which could be powered by the company’s new 385cc powerplant. A motor that is rumored to replace the 350cc UCE engine that currently powers the Classic 350, Electra, Thunderbird and the Bullet 350. Although considering both these reports, one can add two plus two and come to an assumption, the fog will only clear once some concrete information about this mysterious new Himalayan creature surfaces. For all we know, it could turn out to be a name, the company might use for selling official merchandise. Rumors aside, given the popularity of the brand in India among the touring kinds, such a product will only escalate the brands desirability and provide an interesting option for motorcycling aficionados. Also, if at all RE has such a product in the pipeline, we hope its not just meant for their export markets.
