British luxury automobile manufacturer Rolls Royce has unveiled a new styling package known as “Black Badge” aimed to appeal the younger customer base. The package, currently available for the Ghost and the Wraith, are completely blacked out in appearance and give the vehicles a mafia look. The company said that the Black badge is the ‘alter ego’ of Rolls Royce, meant to be darker, more assertive powerful and confident.

The most important and eye grabbing change of the Black Badge editions would be the spirit of ecstasy which is now finished in shade of high-gloss black. Up front, the Black Badge editions receive the Double R badge; the front grille, boot lid finisher as well as the air dam in a shade of black. The deep black paintjob is complimented by the new composite carbon fibre and lightweight alloys in a dual tone shade of silver on black.

Powering these Black Badge edition beasts is a tweaked version of the 6.6 litre V12 twin turbo engine that produces 40 hp and 60 Nm more than the conventional engine. Transmission duties are performed by the updated 8 speed automatic transmission which the company says is for “an added sense of urgency.” The suspension setup has been tuned, as for the brakes that are now equipped with larger discs for the added push in the performance.

Coming to the interiors, the dark treatment seems to have been carried on to the air vents on the dashboard apart from the artisans at the factory in Goodwood who have opted aluminium threaded carbon fibre composite trims that are aerospace graded. The black badge editions also receive a new clock design, black ‘starlight’ headliner with more than a thousand fiber-optic nodes, and two-tone embroidered leather upholstery.

  1. Somehow performance figures mentioned ” 40HP 60nm’ don’t really match up for a 6.6 Litre V12 Twin Turbo Motor ! – Motoroids please re-check !
