Reva NXR to be named E20. Launch in Early 2013

Mahindra Reva NXR

Mahindra & mahindra don’t seem to be bothered at all about the Reva NXR being clicked by scribes. The car, shot dozens of times by the internet media, has been caught yet again, totally undisguiosed, this time by our man is Delhi, Nitin Gupta. The Reva NXR is meant to address all the issues that dogged its predecessor, the Reva.

The REVA NXR, essentially a two door car will have space to seat four adults. Apart from having more space, the new Reva would also have better acceleration and top speed when compared to its predecessor. With a range of 160km, the Reva NXR would be capable of reaching a top speed of 105km/h.

Some new features would include a self-texting feature of the car to inform the driver about the Time-to-full-charge, pre-heat or pre-cool the car, mail you a report on your driving habits or even unlocking the door as you approach.

The Reva NXR would also come with what’s been termed as the REVive technology, which conserves a certain amount of charge only for emergencies and can be activated remotely if the primary charge has completely depleted. For India, the company may replace the standard Li-ion batteries with lead-acid units to bring down costs. This would reduce the NXR’s range to 80km, and top speed to 80km/h.

The Reva NXR, in the very Mahindra fashion, will be called as E2o (pronounced as EE-2-Oh). Strange name apart, the Reva NXR, nay, the E20 won’t come cheap and is expected to be priced around INR 6 lakh rupees.

Is it worth your money at that price point? Do let us know.

  1. Definitely not for the Indian market. We are a good 10yrs away from embracing these technologies on a wider scale. And unless we do that, these things will come at a price. And who will pay 6lakhs for a cramped box with limited space and 2 doors? No matter how conscious I'm about sustainability, I'm not willing to bet my hard earned money on something like this.

  3. By using Electric Vehicles we only move the pollution to some power plant, unless the electricity comes from Hydro, Solar or some other renewable energy source.
