About the 15-year journey of Renault-Nissan India

Let’s take a journey through the remarkable story of Renault-Nissan India. It all started in 2008 when the venture established its first dedicated manufacturing plant. It was for the Renault-Nissan Global Alliance. In two short years, from the foundation to the production of their first car, Renault-Nissan’s manufacturing facilities were up and running in record time.

The debut vehicle, a Nissan Micra, rolled off the line, marking the beginning of a successful journey. Within a year, Renault-Nissan proudly reached the milestone of manufacturing its first 100,000 vehicles. This results in an average of rolling out one car every three minutes since the start of production. Over the years, they’ve produced an impressive 20 different models of Renault and Nissan cars.

By 2016, the venture celebrated the production of one million vehicles, and by July 2023, they had crafted more than 2.5 million cars. Not only did they excel in manufacturing, but they were also pioneers in exporting. They utilized the Kamarajar Port to send over 1.15 million cars to 108 countries.

The Future Strategies of Renault-Nissan India

Looking to the future, the venture is committed to sustainability, aiming to become carbon neutral by 2045, sourcing 60% of its energy from renewable sources, and working towards being water-positive by 2030.

Their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects have positively impacted the lives of over 100,000 people in local communities. As part of a USD 600 million investment by the Renault Nissan Alliance in India, the venture is preparing to manufacture six new car models. These include two electric vehicles which promise for a brighter future.
